This practical half-day workshop is designed for growth-stage hand therapy clinic owners who want to attract more clients, build a high-performing team, and improve profitability without increasing personal workload.

Clinic Mastery will share proven systems used across allied health clinic to help owners move from "busy and stretched" to "structured and scalable". The focus is on simple, implementable strategies tailored to private practice.

Taping to facilitate rehabilitation and return to function in the Upper Limb

This highly practical workshop will explore the use of taping techniques to support rehabilitation and facilitate return to work, sport, leisure, and everyday function following upper limb injury. Drawing on clinical experience and evidence-informed practice, presenters will share practical applications of taping for a range of conditions, including soft tissue injuries, nerve-related conditions, and fracture rehabilitation.

Designed for clinicians working with injured workers, athletes, musicians, and individuals of all ages and activity levels, the workshop will focus on real-world strategies that can be immediately implemented in clinical practice.

Objectives:

  • To familiarise participants with various taping strategies for a range of upper limb conditions
  • Understand the goal of a taping intervention: restrict range of motion/s, to offload structure/s or for facilitatory/ proprioceptive reasons
  • To assess pre and post taping intervention to determine effectiveness of the taping strategy
  • Understand the precautions, contra-indications and risk factors for taping; skin hygiene and sensitivity, poor skin-tape interface compromising the effectiveness of the tape
  • Practical tips for tape application and effectiveness

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Select appropriate taping techniques for a variety of upper limb conditions.
  • Apply taping strategies to reduce pain and/or improve function.
  • Adapt taping strategies for work, sport, leisure and performance-based activities.
  • Incorporate practical clinical pearls into everyday practice.
  • Confidently utilise taping as an adjunct to upper limb rehabilitation.

The workshop will commence with a presentation and practical session on 6D Tape from Nikita Kumar, OPC Health, Technical Sales - Hand Therapy

Followed by presentations and practical sessions from Paula Peralta, Specialist Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Taping for Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation

This session will explore taping strategies for common shoulder and elbow conditions, including:

  • Pain management, symptom modification, neuromuscular support and confidence
  • To restrict undesired range of motion (shoulder instability, UCL elbow) whilst allowing desirable range of motion
  • Occupational, ADL function and sports applications

Participants will observe demonstrations before working in small groups (with supervisory feedback) to practise a range of taping techniques.

Taping for Wrist, Hand and Finger Rehabilitation

Focusing on the distal upper limb, this session will cover clinical reasoning and practical taping approaches for:

  • Wrist, thumb and finger injuries·      
  • Sports-related injuries
  • Functional support for daily activities and occupational tasks

Through demonstrations, discussion and hands-on practice, participants will develop confidence in applying a variety of taping techniques.


This workshop is designed to be highly interactive, with extensive opportunities for hands-on practice, peer learning and discussion. Participants will leave with practical skills, new ideas and the confidence to immediately integrate taping techniques into their clinical practice.

About the presenter

Paula Peralta is a Specialist Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists in 2019). Her current roles include National Performance Support Lead- Physical Therapies for the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Consultant Physiotherapist for the Sydney Swans AFLW. Paula has attended two Olympic Games (Boomers- Team Physiotherapist 2021 and Opals – Head of Medical 2024), three Paralympic Games (including x2 as Physical Therapies Lead for Team Australia) and will be attending her fourth Commonwealth Games this year in Glasgow as Physical Therapies Lead for the Australian team.


She is a Facilitator for the Australian College of Physiotherapists and teaches on the APA Level 1/2/3 Courses. She co-designed the AHTA Shoulder Introduction and Shoulder Intermediate Course with colleague and good friend Liz Giuffre.
